About This Quote

I have never been loved enough to gain the desire of reproducing a being in the image of my lover and I have never been given enough pleasure so that my brain has not had the leisure to seek better...I have wanted the impossible... The story is told of a man who was walking along a beach when he found a beautiful woman. She was very beautiful and she was alone. He asked her to be his wife and she accepted.

When they were married, they lived together happily for quite some time. They seemed to be very happy with each other. One day, she became deathly ill and was bedridden for several days.

The man did not leave her side during her illness and when she died, he buried her on the beach. He went back to the house and gathered up all of her belongings and took them back to the beach where he had buried her. He then sat down on the beach and wept while he gaze at his dead love's possessions until nightfall.

Then, he got up from the beach, dug himself a grave, layed himself in it, closed his eyes, and died. When morning came, a wave came along and washed everything from the beach to sea except for one thing: a single flower that had been left on top of his grave. That flower will be there forever because it did not know what to do without him.
